Cirencester vs ORRFC
Excellent conditions at the Whiteway saw a feast of highly entertaining rugby
Game 1
CRFC 20 ORRFC 5
Richians took control of the first half with a committed and powerful performance. Brooke Turner put in an excellent performance on his debut at hooker (winning 5 against the head) who was assisted by his front row colleague Matt Wood who powered over for the opening score. Although Richains dominated possession and territory they couldn't find that final pass to cross the line and increase their advantage. Richians changed things at half time and put on a number of new faces. Cirencester exploited some weaknesses out wide and crossed for four unanswered second half tries.
Game 2
CRFC 5 ORRFC 30
A good all round performance saw Richians cross the line six times against Cirens less experienced side.
Try scorers were Ellis Thompson (2), Harry Page (2), Callum Marsh and Eli Hicks
Game 3
CFRC 10 ORRFC 5
A very entertaining and physical game to finish the morning with both teams trying to get the ball wide at every opportunity. Ciren opened the scoring from close in, but powerful play from Matt Wood at prop saw him cross the line for the equalising score at the end of the first half. Richians controlled alot of the ball in the second half coming close to scoring on a number of occasions only to be thwarted by excellent last ditch tackling by some of the Ciren back line. Ciren took the game with a breakaway try on the last play of the game as Richians tried to throw it around to find the decisive opening themselves.
An excellent morning of committed rugby from both sides and a very warm welcome from Cirencester.

ORRFC vs Droitwich & Cinderford
Start of the 2010/11 Season with a highly anticipated triple header (which turned into a three way because Hucclecote cried off on Friday) with Droitwich and Cinderford
Game 1: ORRFC 0 DRFC 30
A real wake up for the lads, as Droitwich powered into a three try lead within minutes. Richians were half asleep evidently ring rusty, and completely off the pace physically against a very capable Droitwich outfit. The second half was more even with excellent performances from new faces thrown into the fray, such as Callum Marsh and Matt 'Woody' Wood.
Game 2: ORRFC 30 Cinderford 0
More physicality and intensity saw Richians power past plucky Cinderford, good all round performances and tries from Woody, Will, Matt, Eli and Callum who was everywhere.
Game 3: ORRFC 5 DRFC 5
A much more even contest as Richians confirmed that they had woken up. Droitwich scored a good individual try to which Richians responded with good driving play up the middle of the park, culminating in Will Akerman scoring from close range. Excellent commitment from both sides in a very entertaining game.

MATCH REPORT ORRFC vs BREDON
Bredon 0 ORRFC 80
Stunning weather was matched by a stunning performance from the team. This was the last friendly match of the season and the team played with fluidity and power, moving the ball wide at every opportunity. Bredon kept tackling and tried to get the ball wide to their speedy wingers, but the Richians pack tore into them, driving them off their own ball and created a number of opportunities which were taken clinically. The whole squad had a good run out and there were stand out performances from Rob Hemms, Charlie Major, Travis Williams, Eli Hicks, Callum and David Blackburn. The pack of Hicks,Williams and Thompson were very effective and built on the development they showed as a unit on our North Devon Tour.
Try scorers: Brooke Turner (6), Will Akerman (2), Eli Hicks (2), Ellis Thompson, Matt Lampitt, Rob Hemms, Travis Williams (2) and Alex Willerton

NORTH DEVON RUGBY FESTIVAL
Excellent Tour, the rugby was hard and the craic was fierce! Swimming, Beach Sports, Drinking Games, Kangaroo Court and that was just Saturday afternoon!
We all had a fantastic time and well done to the lads for some excellent rugby against some very strong (bigger and OLDER) teams! Outstanding performances throughout the team and we think we learnt alot by trying players in different positions for this tour.
Thankyou to the parents for allowing the boys to tour this year and a big thankyou for those parents and siblings who toured with us and made it such an enjoyable time (apart from the ronkeys!) Special thanks to Whippersnappers Nursery for their sponsorship and organisation of the Tour T-Shirts, which were fantastic and looked really good at the award presentation.
ORRFC Tourism Awards to:
Eli Hicks 'Tour Streaker'
Chris Thompson 'Tour Fairy'
Heath Turner 'Tour Mascot'

County Finals Report
Once again the lads had reached County Finals Day and had lined up Lydney in the Plate Semis, with either Hucclecote or Frampton Cotterell potentially in the Plate Final.
Chosen Hill RFC were hosting the Finals Day and the weather was bright and warm.
GRFU Plate Semi Final
ORRFC 45 LYDNEY 0
Richians were really up for this from the outset. Travis Williams was running with menace supported by the pack of Will Akerman, Matt Lampitt and Eli Hicks who were providing the lions share of the ball. Brooke Turner and Charlie Major were in sparkling form at half back creating chances from all over the park. Richians defended well and attacked at every opportunity. Lydney never gave up and put together some really good rugby. Ellis Thompson finished well from the half way with excellent tackling from David Blackburn, Alex Willerton and Robert Hemms. Harry Page and Nathan Hines made good runs and presented the ball excellently. This was a comprehensive performance.
Try scorers: Ellis Thompson, Matt Lampitt, Will Akerman, Brooke Turner (6)
GRFU Plate Final
ORRFC 5 HUCCLECOTE 20
After such a sparkling performance in the Semi's expectations were high for the Final against a large and direct Hucclecote outfit who had got past Frampton to reach the final. Before the match we spoke about using the width of the pitch and using our pace out wide, however we were dragged into a narrow maul of a match. It was a try apiece just before half time when Hucclecote were awarded a scrum, 2m? from the Richians line which resulted with Hucclecote scoring from close range. The second half was just as tight, with Brooke Turner, Will Akerman, Travis Williams and Matt Lampitt putting everything on the line and running at Hucclecote like men possessed, but all credit to Hucclecote they held firm and scored two more tries on the break from close range as Richians tried to sling the ball around to get back into the game.
Try scorer: Brooke Turner
Hopefully lesson learnt and congratulations to the lads for getting to another Finals Day, which bodes well for next year.

MATCH REPORT ORRFC vs BERRY HILL
ORRFC 25 BERRY HILL 10
Fresh, sunny morning on a muddy pitch, saw an entertaining game played over four periods of eight minutes starting with eight a side. Richians were slightly subdued in the opening quarter, with Berry Hill opening the scoring breaking away from a midfield ruck. This woke Richians up and Eli Hicks broke away from the restart and finished well. Committed tackling from both sides and the muddy pitch were not condusive with Richians usual running rugby style, however Richians began to dominate the match. Dave Blackburn played for Berry Hill for the last two periods to help out with their numbers as the match went to 9 a side. Good clearing out by Matt Lampitt and Will Akerman supplied good attacking ball finished off by Brooke Turner (2) and Charlie Major. Richians could have had three more tries with Brooke Turner denied two tries by foul play behind the line and a knock on by Richians as they were crossing the line from a good set move. This was a well contested game, played in an excellent spirit on a muddy pitch.
Try scorers: Brooke Turner (3), Charlie Major, Eli Hicks

COUNTY U9 FESTIVAL - DRYBROOK RFC
Drybrook RFC hosted the pool stages of the 2010 GRFU County U9 Festival on a fresh, sunny morning in the depths of the Forest of Dean. The team arrived early and got on with warming up (larking about like rutting stags). We were drawn in Pool C with Chosen Hill, St Mary's Old Boys and Dursley.
Game 1:
ORRFC 15 SMOB 5
We opened the pool matches with a reasonable but scrappy performance against previously unknown opponents for us. Glimpses of good attacking rugby from Richians especially Brooke Turner who took the game by the scruff of the neck and ran in two tries. Good ripping on the fringes of mauls by Eli Hicks saw him race away and score. The pack cleared out well and Rob Hemms put in some good tackles.
Game 2:
ORRFC 0 CHFP 20
Our second match was against last years County Cup winners. A team we had already played twice this season sharing the results. This game followed the same pattern of our previous encounters with ferocious tackles on both sides. Chosen led by one at half time. The second half saw Richians piling into Chosen and having the lions share of possession, however three break away tries from mauls finished the game.
Game 3:
ORRFC 25 DRFC 0
Our final pool match was against a spirited Dursley team. This was a much better performance by the lads, with excellent rush defence forcing turnovers and better running lines to finish moves off. Ellis Thompson opened the scoring wide out after good hands from Matt and Will in the pack. Travis Williams made some powerful straight breaks and crossed for a good try. Brooke Turner was ever industrious and scored twice and Eli Hicks made a half way dash to complete the scoring. This win saw us finish second in our pool and progress to the Quarter Finals of the Plate.
Match 4:
Q/F Plate
ORRFC 30 SRFC 0
The Quarter Final was against Stroud. The team was really up for this and put in the performance of the day. Travis Williams was outstanding in defence and attack. He made a number of barnstorming runs and crossed before half time. Brooke Turner led by example with another outstanding performance making some good runs, off loading in traffic and finishing well with two tries. The score at half time was three nil. The second half saw the lads still fired up score three more tries through Brooke Turner (2) and Ellis Thompson with a powerful run down the line, saw him pile over in the corner (even got his knees muddy).
So well done Lads, you are through to the County Finals Day at Chosen Hill RFC on Sunday 28th March 2010.

Charlie Major opened the scoring with excellent support play after Brooke Turner made inroads into Stroud's midfield. More strong runs from Matt Lampitt and Ellis Thompson led to Brooke Turner finishing off nicely to make it 10 nil after 4 mins. Rob Hemms was everywhere and made it 15 nil before halftime with a well taken outside arc. Stroud came back in the second half with ferocious tackles flying in from both sides. Brooke Turner and Rob Hemms put in excellent performances including some fantastic cover tackles.

MATCH REPORT ORRFC vs CHOSEN HILL
ORRFC 5 CHOSEN HILL 25
A subdued Richians were caught cold by a strong Chosen outfit who were straight out of the blocks scoring on their opening possession. Although Richians had the lion's share of possesion and territory for the match, they could not get through the excellent Chosen defence, who scored 3 break away tries from turnover ball. Strong performances from Brooke Turner (1 try) and Rob Hemms both in attack and defence.
This was a lesson in finishing and hopefully lesson learnt.

MATCH REPORT ORRFC vs STROUD
ORRFC 20 SRFC 15
Cold and drizzly conditions did not dampen an excellent game with both sides getting stuck in. Stroud were a physical unit with strong runners and were coming off a floodlit tournament two nights before. Richians were straight out of the blocks tackling well and winning a fair amount of ball from turnovers. Strong work from Ellis Thompson saw him break away and score, with more strong running from Will Akerman, Rob Hemms, Travis Williams, Alex Willerton and Brooke Turner. Captain Charlie Major kept the ball moving from scrum half and got stuck into clearing out the rucks. A powerful and direct run from Will Akerman saw him score in the corner with the half time score 10-5 to Richians. Excellent work from Brooke Turner and Alex Willerton at the start of the second half saw Brooke Turner crash over, and he added another 3 minutes from time. Good set plays and pretty good scrambling defence saw Richians home, but the moment of the match was an absolute corker of a try saving tackle in the corner by Brooke Turner half way through the second half. Good all round performance against a strong Stroud unit.
